PRICE  and the THE GATEWAY 5

In the Fall of 2016, a public Sidney Council meeting was held at the Shoal Centre to consider the VAA request for rezoning of Sidney lands adjacent to the Victoria International Airport to facilitate the then proposed GATEWAY development (now known as Sidney Crossing).

 

Approximately 800+ people attended the meeting (a public RECORD), the overwhelming majority of whom were VEHEMENTLY AND VOCALLY OPPOSED to the Sidney Council's obvious pre-meeting intent to approve the rezoning!

 

Despite the significant, unprecedented public voicing of dismay and discontent (my personal '2c' included, earning the ongoing displeasure of Mr. Price), FIVE members of Council, THE INFAMOUS GATEWAY 5, or G5, VOTED FOR THE MOTION, which effectively emasculated Sidney in any further dealings with the Victoria Airport Authority over the size and nature of the Gateway development.

Mayor PRICE

The 'leader of the pack'! A true 'ignoramus'(Greek : 'One who does not know'). A bully who FREQUENTLY abuses the power of his Mayoral seat, and his privileged access to the media, to publicly denigrate anybody he sees as 'getting in his way'!

Cam McLennan

A little 'bully boy'. Like his idol, Price, he thinks nothing of criticizing and lecturing the taxpaying residents of Sidney from his Council chair! And he's not even a RESIDENT of Sidney himself!

Mervyn Lougher-Goody

A Price acolyte who failed to consider the interests and well being of the residents of Sidney by blindly supporting Price's agenda. History will judge his actions!

Tim Chad

Seemed like a nice enough guy, but 'following the leader' isn't good enough.

He said, "What keeps me up at night is wondering whether all our residents are properly prepared in the event of a disaster. We are a very closeknit community and I want to ensure everyone is safe”.

One wonders how on earth he reconciles THAT statement with his decisions on GATEWAY and the CSB location, both of which raise SERIOUS INCREASES in safety concerns for residents, YYJ and air passengers?

A long-term Council member who seems to have finally 'seen the light' and is now (unfortunately, far too late!) publicly questioning Price's agenda.
